1. Finding Lessons
Lessons can be found in the Lesson Explorer, under the Teach header in the main navigation menu. Choose your Grade and Module, then click the green arrow to select a Driving Question. Every Driving Question has three types of lessons:
- Full Lessons: Everything a teacher needs to guide, present and teach subjects in full.
- Fast Track Lessons: Lessons with an accelerated pace for both teacher and students.
- Twig Coach Lessons: Lessons with no preparation needed. Just assign and go!
Full lessons
Full lessons are in depth lessons with teacher present mode, teacher resources and digital assets. Everything you need to guide students through each lesson.

Fast track lessons
Fast track lessons are streamlined lessons which can be taught quickly within 50 minutes.

Twig Coach lessons
Twig Coach lessons include guided instruction from one of our enthusiastic Twig Coaches! These lessons are perfect for distance learning or homework assignments.

2. Pinning Lessons and Curriculum Tracking
Pin Lessons to your dashboard, and track your progression with the Progression Tracker.
When you first log in to your account, you'll see two sections which are empty: My Lessons and Curriculum Progression Tracker.
You can add content to these sections by pinning Lessons.
When you pin a Lesson, the Curriculum Tracker will add your Grade, and can show you where you are within each Module.

3. Teaching and Presenting your Lesson
If you've chosen Full Lessons or Fast Track Lessons you will find the following for each Lesson:
- Teacher Background information
- Digital version of Twig Book
- Lesson Overview
- Lesson Breakdown
- Teaching Resources
- Lesson Slides for presenting

4. Assigning and Sharing Lessons
To assign a Lesson click Teach and Lesson Explorer.
Navigate to your Grade and Module. Click on the green arrow to select a Driving Question. Now click on your Lesson.
Here you can:
Assign all lessons in a Driving Question
From the Driving Question page you can assign all lessons at once.
Click Assign Twig Books for this DQ
You will now be able to select the classes, students and corresponding lessons to assign.
Note
To manage any lessons after you have assigned them, just click Manage and Assigned Lessons to go to the Assigned Lessons Center.
Assign an individual lesson
To assign one lesson at a time, navigate to the Driving Question page and scroll down and click a lesson.
Then click Assign and share.
The assigned lessons will now appear on the student dashboard when they next sign in.
Now you've assigned your lesson you can manage and track assigned lessons from the Assigned Lesson Center.
Sharing Lessons
To share assigned lessons, click Manage and Assigned Lessons.
Here you can manage access, see student view or share via url, Google Classroom, and Microsoft Teams.
To share lessons, click Choose then Assign and Share.
You will now see three sharing options.
5. Tracking and Grading Lessons
To track Lessons click Manage in the main navigation menu, and then click Assigned Lesson Center.
The Assigned Lessons Center provides teachers with a management system for all assigned lessons. You can share lessons, revoke lessons, view students' progression and access the Twig Book, and grade lessons all in one place.
How do I know when a student has turned in an assignment?
To see the progress of assigned lessons, navigate to the Assigned Lessons Center, by clicking Manage and Assigned Lessons
Progress of each assessment can be accessed by clicking the Progress icons.
You'll now see the status of each assigned lesson.
How to Grade Lessons
You can grade lessons, when a student has "Turned in" their lesson.
To grade lessons you can either;
- navigate to the lesson using the Lesson Explorer,
- navigate to the lesson using the Assigned Lesson Center.
Top Tip
If you have pinned your lesson, just scroll to your My Lessons on your dashboard. Click on your Lesson, then click Twig Book > Digital.
Navigate to the lesson using the Lesson Explorer
- Click on Grade.
- Scroll to Module.
- Click the Green arrow to view Driving Questions. (DQs)
- Click on DQ.
- Click on Lesson.
- Click Twig Book.
- Click Digital.
Navigate to the lesson using the Assigned Lesson Center
- Click Manage.
- Click Assigned Lessons Center.
- Click on Choose.
- Select Student View.
Flexible Grading
You can choose to grade lessons by using the student drop down and selecting a student's assignment, or you can grade by using the question type drop down and grading each question one at a time.

Return to Student
When you are grading lessons, you can leave feedback and Return to Student if they need to update or change their answer.
Click on the speech bubble to leave a comment.
Then click Return to Student. The student will be able to update their answers and Turn in the lesson.
Mark as Complete
When you are happy with your student's answers, you can leave feedback and mark the lesson as complete. Click Mark as Complete. The student will be able to view your feedback, but will no longer be able to update the lesson.
