1. Assessment Explorer: Find assessments for a specific module

Prepare for upcoming assessments with our Assessment Explorer. Find the available assessments for a specific module. You can use our Assessment Explorer to find:

  • Pre-Explorations
  • Formative Assessment
  • Key Language Proficiency
  • Performance Tasks
  • Benchmarks and MCQs

You can also open the relevant Lesson, Teacher Edition, Student Twig Book or Assessment Center from the Assessment Explorer.

To find specific assessments for each module follow the steps below:

  1. From the main navigation menu, select Assess  > Assessments ExplorerScreenshot 2022-04-04 at 12.38.png

  3. A table will appear listing all Assessments that apply to your module. Filter results to find a specific type of assessment.Lesson-Explorer-Twig-Science (4).png

2. Assessment Center Overview: Assessment Library, Assessment Center and Assessment Reports

The Assessment Center provides access to our library of summative assessments. Here you can assign, track, grade and view reports for each assessment.

The Assessment Center consists of three areas:

  • The Assessment Library: browse, edit, share and assign assessments.
  • The Assessment Center: manage, track and grade assessments.
  • Reports: track class and student performance.

Navigate to the Assessment Center:

  2. The Assessment Center will now open. Here you can browse Summative assessments in the Assessment Library, track assessments from the Assessment Center or view Assessment Reports.Screenshot 2022-04-04 at 13.47.05.png

Finding and Assigning Assessments

From the Assessment Library, select the assessment collection available to you.

Selecting students for your assessment
  1. From the Assessment Library click on your chosen assessment, this could be a standard assessment, an edited assessment or a shared assessment. Screenshot 2022-04-04 at 15.36.png
  2. On the Assessment page you will get a summary of the assessment, a breakdown of the relevant standards, teaching and grading instructions. To assign this assessment to students click on the Assign button.

  3. Now you will see your classes. Select all or individual students to take part in the assessment.

  4. Now choose the assessment start and end dates. Screenshot
  5. You should now get a pop-up message letting you know the assessment has now been assigned.
  6. You will now be taken to the Assessment Center where you can manage and track any assessments.
Sharing an assessment with students using Google Classroom or a URL

You can share an assessment which you have already assigned to your students by navigating to the Assessment Center. From here click the three dots next to the assessment you wish to share and select your chosen sharing method. assessment

Editing Assessments

How do I navigate to the edit mode of an assessment?

  1. Navigate to the Twig Assessment Center by clicking Assess > Assessment Center in the main navigation bar. Screenshot 2022-04-19 at 12.17.png
  2. Click on Assessment Library in the left-hand side menu. Screenshot 2022-04-21 at 13.22.png
  3. Now select your assessment collection from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click the three dots next to your assessment and select Edit Screenshot 2022-04-21 at 13.41.png

How do I edit an assessment title and description?

Once you have selected to edit an assessment you can edit the title and description.

  1. Click on the pencil icon next to Properties. Screenshot 2022-04-21 at 14.01.png
  2. Now you can edit the title by clicking on the title text.
  3. You can also change the image.

  5. After editing the title and image, click Save.

How do I edit student instructions?

  1. To edit student instructions, navigate to the assessment editor, then click on the pencil icon next to Assessment Student Instructions.
  2. An editable text box with the Student instructions will now appear. You can remove or change the image, change the title, or add additional instructions for your students.
  3. Use the text editor to add in links, images, or to change fonts or styling. Screenshot 2022-04-26 at 12.16.png
  4. When you are finished updating student instructions click outside of the text box. Now you should see the option to Update Changes. Screenshot 2022-04-26 at 12.07.png
  5. After you have updated the changes you can Save and Preview.

How do I edit assessment questions?

  1. To edit questions, navigate to the assessment editor, then click on the pencil icon next to the question group.
  2. Here you can add additional student instructions or rename the question.

  4. To edit a question item, expand the question by clicking the arrow icon, and edit the question by clicking the pencil icon. CleanShot 2022-04-27 at 11.51.16.gif
  5. You can add in additional student instructions for each specific question. You can also edit answers, delete answers and add in additional options in multiple choice questions. thisone.gif

  7. Points allocated for each question can also be edited.

How do I delete questions from an assessment?

  1. Click the three dots next to a question to delete questions or question groups.

  3. The question will now be removed.

How do I reorder assessment questions?

There are two ways to re-order assessment questions. You can grab the question, or click the three dots and select Move above or Move below. CleanShot 2022-04-27 at 13.42.36.gif

How do I preview my assessment?

To view any assessment edits, click the Preview button. CleanShot 2022-04-27 at 15.07.24.gif

Can I edit an assessment after I've assigned it to a student?

After you have assigned your edited assessment, you can make changes to instructions and titles but you can not edit any assessment questions.

Sharing Edited Assessments with other teachers

Share any of your previously edited assessments with other teachers at your school from the Assessment Library.

  1. Navigate to the Assessment Library from the Assessment Center.
  2. Use the dropdown to select your Assessment Collection.
  3. Scroll down and click on My Assessments. MyAssessments.png
  4. Find the assessment you want to share. Click the Menu icon. menu.png
  5. Click Share. Share.png

     Note

    Teacher sharing permissions for assessments are enabled by your District Administrator. If sharing options are not available, please contact your District Administrator.

  6. Use the checkboxes to select the teachers you want to share the assessment with. checkboxes.png

  8. Your assessment will now be shared with the selected teachers. The assessment can be found on their account under the Shared with Me tab. Shared with me.png

4. Assessments Center: Tracking Assessments

The Assessment Center allows you to track, manage and grade all assigned assessments. You can get a complete overview of the progression and completion of all assigned assessments.

The progression tracker at the top of the page provides a breakdown of the status of your assessments. You can use the progress tracker to filter the assessments based on progress.2021-10-26_14-28-21.png

Managing an assessment

You can manage a specific assessment by clicking on it in the Assessment Center.

Here you can see the progression and performance of each student, and you can also share the results with each student.

5. Grading Assessments

You can grade student assessments here by clicking View Answers or Grade Assignment.2022-04-07_14-07-06.png
Multiple choice questions will be automatically graded, however these scores can be edited by you. Essay or diagram questions have grading instructions and rubrics available in the assessment.

6. Assessment Reports: Live Class Monitoring and More

In the Assessment Center you will find Reports. We have a number of reports available for Teachers, Administrators and District Administrators. This article will look in detail at the reports available to teachers. 

Assessment Reports

Assessment Reports provide an in depth look at how students are performing on each assessment. You can look at an overview, then look at each assessment, before drilling down to look at how students are performing with specific questions.

There are three types of Assessment reports:

  • Assessment Overview: Provides a snapshot of how your class or classes are performing over all assessments, and how many assessments they have completed.
  • Assessment Report: This is a breakdown of how classes and students have performed for each Assessment.
  • Item Analysis Report: Look in detail at how students have performed on each question within an assessment.

Class Reports

Class Reports look at how students and classes are performing and progressing over a period of time. You can look at the performance of classes and students using a specific legend, as well as see their progression. With Live Class Monitoring you can also see in real-time how students are answering assessment questions. 

There are three types of Class reports:

  • Performance Report: Analyze the performance of your class and students and see where each class falls within each bandwidth.
  • Progression Report: Compare the progress on all assessments assigned to all classes and view an aggregate score for these assessments.
  • Live Class Monitoring: Look in detail at how students have performed on each question within an assessment.

Student Reports

Student Reports look at how specific students are progressing with specific assessments and overall. You can also look at how each student is progressing with specific standards over all assessments they have taken.

There are three types of Student reports:

  • Student Performance Report: View the progress of a student on all the assessments assigned across all classes by score, performance bandwidth and time spent.
  • Progress Report for a Student: View the progress of a student on all the assessments assigned across all classes by score, performance bandwidth and time spent.
  • Standards Mastery for a Student: Filter results to view a specific student's performance by standard domain and codes.

Standards Reports

Standards Reports provide an indepth look at how students are performing with each standard. See how your students perform on each Standard.

There are two types of Standards reports:

  • Standards Mastery for All Classes: View an aggregate of the overall mastery for all the classes on all standard domains assessed in the assessments.

Gradebook Reports

Gradebook Reports show how students are performing on both assessments and standards. Search for specific assessments or standards.

There are three types of Assessment reports:

  • Gradebook Report:View a detailed summary of the performance of students assessed on one or more assessments in the assigned standard codes.
  • Assessment Gradebook Report: View a detailed summary of the performance of all the students assessed on one or more assessments.
  • Standards Gradebook Report: View a detailed summary of the performance of all the students in the assigned standard codes.
