This article covers:
- Accessing the Assigned Lesson page
- Accessing the student view of the lesson
- Viewing and/or changing who is assigned to each lesson
- Viewing each student's completion progress (Not Started, Turned In, etc.)
- Grading the lesson
- Closing the lesson so students can no longer access it.
- Additional details about each column on the Assigned Lessons page
To access the Assigned Lessons page:
- Log in to Twig Science Elementary.
- In the top navigation banner, click Manage and then select Assigned Lessons.
- The page opens, defaulted to show all lessons. To view only a subset of the lessons, use the All Classes and/or All Students filters.
To view the lesson as the student sees it:
- In the Actions column, open the Choose... drop-down menu and select Student View. This will take you to the student view of the Leveled Reader or the lesson.
To see who is currently assigned to the lesson:
- Click the link in the Assigned to column.
- This will open a new window with a list all students in the class. Students with a blue box are assigned the lesson or Leveled Reader.
To change the students who are assigned a lesson:
- Follow the steps in the section above, make your changes, and click Save Changes.
- Or, in the Actions column, open the Choose... drop-down menu and select Assign and Share. Refer to Assigning and sharing lessons for more detail.
To see which students have turned in their work:
- Click in the Progress column in the row for the applicable lesson.
-
Students will be listed in alphabetical order. You'll also see each student's lesson status:
- Not Started: Student has not yet begun working on the lesson
- In Progress: Student is working on the lesson but has not yet submitted it for review
- Turned In: Student is done working, has submitted the lesson for evaluation, and is awaiting your feedback
- Completed: You have evaluated the student's work and marked it as complete, possibly after sending it back to the student for rework and then being satisfied with the revised answer
Look for the blue circle to indicate Turned In work awaiting your review and feedback. You can also sort the list by status in the top right corner to make it easier to assess status if you have a long list of students.
To grade the lesson:
- Click in the Progress column in the row for the applicable lesson.
- Click View by a student with a lesson status of Turned In.
- Follow the instructions in Viewing students' lesson answers and leaving feedback.
To close the lesson:
Lessons in Twig Science Elementary do not have a "due date" or an expiration date, so you should close the lesson when you no longer want students to be able to work on it.
- In the Actions column, open the Choose... drop-down menu and select Close and Revoke Access.
-
Click Confirm in the pop-up window that opens. Students will no longer be able to access the lesson from their dashboard.
Note
Later if you want to reopen this lesson, return to the Choices... drop-down menu and select Reopen, then re-assign the lesson to the desired students.
