Setting up and using Google Classroom with Dragonfly, StudySync, and Traverse

The Google Classroom integration is completed on a class-by-class basis and does not require setup at the district level. Teachers can complete the following steps, provided they have a Google Classroom account.

This article applies to the following Imagine Learning programs: Dragonfly, StudySync, and Traverse.

By integrating Google Classroom with your classes, you can link assignments and enable grade passback* between Google Classroom and the Imagine Learning program. This eliminates the need for you to enter students' grades manually in Google Classroom—instead, you can grade assignments in Dragonfly, StudySync, and/or Traverse and then send the grades electronically to Google Classroom. Scores for auto-graded work inside the programs can also be sent to Google Classroom.

After you sync an assignment, students can access it from within Google Classroom and also view their grades there after you send them. 

*Dragonfly assignments that are only reviewed for completion but do not have a percentage grade will not be sent to Google Classroom.

To set up Google Classroom and sync assignments

To connect an Imagine Learning class/group and sync assignments with Google Classroom:

  1. Log in to the Imagine Learning Product Portal using the email address also associated with your school Google account, then select the applicable program tile.

  2. Set up the initial integration specific to the program you're using. Click on the applicable tab to view the instructions.

    Go to the Groups page, then click Manage Google Classroom.

  3. Google Classroom will open in a new tab; sign in to Google if you haven't already.
  4. Click Continue on the "Sign in to imaginelearning.com" screen.

  5. Click Allow.

  6. Select a class/group from an Imagine Learning program. Click the Pair button by the applicable class/group.

  7. Next, select a Google Classroom course and then click Continue. You may only select 1 course at a time.

  8. All of the assignments from the Imagine Learning class/group load on the Assignments tab. Click Sync on any assignment that isn't synced yet. To sync more than one assignment at once, click Bulk Sync at the top left of the list of assignments and select all or multiple assignments.
    (Syncing assignments can be done before or after students complete the assignment.)

     Note

    You must sync each assignment before you can send its grades to Google Classroom. Future assignments will not be synced automatically; you must manually sync each one.

  9. The Status of the assignment is now Synced, and you can send grades to Google Classroom.

To send grades to Google Classroom 

To send grades from Imagine Learning programs to Google Classroom:

  1. Log in to the Imagine Learning program and grade a synced assignment. 

  2. Send the scores to Google Classroom. Click on the applicable tab to view the instructions for each program:

Grades will now be visible inside Google Classroom for both you and your students.
