Imagine Learning Classroom: Upgrading from LTI 1.1 to 1.3 in Schoology

A Schoology Administrator at your district must complete the following actions.

This article applies to Imagine Learning Classroom customers who are migrating from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3. 

Learning Management Systems (LMSs) are shifting away from LTI 1.1 toward LTI 1.3. Although Schoology has not yet announced a deprecation date, you can move to LTI 1.3 now to avoid any disruptions in service. You should install the newer version first and then remove the old version.

The benefits of switching to LTI 1.3 include: 

  • Stronger security
  • Expanded assignment linking and grade passback functionality 

To switch from LTI 1.1 to 1.3 in Schoology:

  1. Sign in to Schoology.
  2. If you have sub-accounts, chose your Imagine Learning account from the drop-down menu by your name.

  3. Follow the instructions in Setting up an LTI Advantage integration with Schoology to install version 1.3.
  4. Return to the App Center from the top of the page. (Apps icon > App Center button).

  5. In the top left corner, click Organization Apps.

  6. Click Install/Remove in the LTI 1.1 row.

  7. In the pop-up window that opens, uncheck all boxes, then click Submit.

    At the top of the page, you will receive a confirmation that the app was removed.
